Let’s talk basics and where to buy them. By basics I mean, the things in your closet you wear 2-3 times a week so you need multiple of them and because you love them so much, you have the same thing in many different colors.
I made a video about this on my TikTok recently and I can’t decide if it got a lot of views because people liked it or because they thought my recommendations were ridiculous. Honestly, I stay out of the comments sections (it’s a scary place), so I’m unsure. Either way, I thought I would make a more extensive list for you guys. I have split each category up into high, medium and low price points.
I know “affordable” and “expensive” have different meanings for everyone. I don’t mean to be offensive. Please don’t scream at me. If you are looking for a different price point that I didn’t cover - DM me. I’ll try to find it for you.
JEANS
High: Our Legacy - An industry gem. Classic but not basic styles that will transcend seasonal trends. Caters to a contemporary audience. Specifically the Third Cut style.
Medium: Nudie Jeans - A really great jean and not enough people are talking about them. My favorite cut is the Tuff Tony.
Low: Levi’s - I mean, duh. The only thing I don’t love about Levi’s is their quality control. you can buy the same jean in the same size in a different wash and the sizing is so vastly inconsistent. It drives in crazy. But you can’t deny the quality to price ratio - unbeatable. I specially love the 550’s ‘92 cut.
POLOS
High: Norse Projects - I appreciate the sleeve length and one visible button detail. Roomy and comfortable fit.
Medium: Asket - They allow you to pick the length of your polo and I feel like that is invaluable.
Low: Lands End - Reliable. A lot of variations. Fine quality for the price.
BLANK TEES
High: Lady White Co - The crème de la crème of blank tees. Slight boxy fit.
Medium: Hours - Oversized in a good way. Comes in regular or cropped. Both options have a nice fit. Has a great weight on it. Easily can be dressed up or down.
Low: Los Angeles Apparel - Has so may variations. They don’t stain as easily as Uniqlo.
CHINOS
High: A.P.C - Wide leg with a kind of carrot cut. High waisted. Light and breathable.
Medium: Beams Plus - Love the double pleats. Most wide leg than the A.P.C. High waisted.
Low: J Crew - My favorite is the Giant Fit.
BUTTON DOWNS/UP
High: Nanamica - Mostly all of their styles are oversized, and I love it.
Medium: Asket - Classic, well made. Will not disappoint you. You willllll have these forever.
Low: J Crew - Reliable - like everything J Crew does. Nothing overly special about them but good quality.
As always, thank you for being here xo
