I have received so many DMs and comments about what to wear for spring/summer vacations. So lets do it. Lets talk about what to wear in different cities if you want to blend in. Also, I’ll add some shopping that I loved in each city.
Today, we’re going to talk about Milan.
Now I want to preface this by saying this is a guide to KEEP IT SAFE. This is purely for the guys that are stressed out about what to wear and need some guidance.
I am going to make this first post free for everyone just so you can see what I have to offer. But after today I think this will be for my paid subscribers only.
GENERALLY SPEAKING
Milan is the chicest city I have ever been to. A different kind of chic than Paris or NYC. Chic in a sort of… serious way. The men were in perfectly tailored suits riding bike or Vespa’s to work daily. For aperitivo, some wore navy double breasted blazers with beautiful vintage gold buttons. It was stunning.
Now, do I think you need to dress like this as a tourist? Obviously not. But it’s just something to keep in mind.
If you want to blend in think “classic”. Be a little more conventional and formal with your dressing but still functional.
When thinking about what colors to wear, opt for blue, brown/khaki, black and white.
For pants: you probably want to wear a cotton/linen trouser, a tapered chino or a nice straight leg jean (nothing too baggy and defiantly nothing with rips).
For shirts: go for anything with a collar - knit polos, regular polos, button downs. If you do want to wear a t-shirt - make it a plain on or one with horizontal stripes.
For shoes: the shoe department is where you can elevate your “classic” look. Go for an unexpected shoe. The Milanese love detail. A loud shoe with a quiet outfit is very welcomed. But if that’s not your style, a loafer is always a good option.
STYLING TIPS
going for an all blue look or an all neutrals look will always hit.
don’t unbutton too many buttons on your button down shirt unless you have a shirt on under - keep it classy.
if you want to wear a plain tee, just tuck it in and throw on a blazer or wrap a sweater around your shoulders to elevate it.
channel sophistication, therefore nothing overly baggy or oversized.
don’t underestimate the power of a sock - having a nice pair of socks peaking out from the hem of your trousers is very chic and very Milanese.
to spice up your look, wear unexpected accessories i.e beaded bracelets or necklace.
