I Went To NYFW
Share

This year I was fortunate enough to be invited, in an official capacity, to attend New York Fashion Week, specifically New York Men’s Day. This is something that has been on my goal list since… forever. I spent most of my 20’s just showing up in NYC during the week of NYFW. Stalking Twitter pages, running around the city, standing in lines - in hopes of getting into any designer’s afterparty. I was just dyinggg to be in the same room as the fashion crowd.

And now I’m here!!! 25 year old me is screaming!!! So, I want to say THANK YOU, to all of you, for following me, trusting me and all of your positivity. I wouldn’t have been able to go to fashion week without you guy, so thank you a million.

Shows I Loved

Tarpley:

Tarpley, is a luxury, contemporary fashion label specializing in clothes made from innovative technologies. Brooks Jones, the designer, uses bio-nylons, apple leather, abaca, and others and constructs them in beautifully experimental ways. Jones makes a lot of technical/utilitarian pieces in a very sophisticated color palette. It’s truly like nothing I have seen before. This was defiantly my favorite presentation at NYMD.

Campillo:

Campillo is a sustainable fashion brand from Mexico City. Patrick Campillo might have made his NYFW debut this weekend but he is defiantly not new to the fashion world. I have actually been following Campillo for sometime now as I love their brand ethos and values. Also, he just makes fabulous menswear. This collection was WOW. The ombre washes on denim, textures on leather and embellishments on suiting - all while balancing masculinity and femininity AND embodying Charro culture… just WOW.

Willy Chavarria:

Willy Chavarria needs no introduction. This year he showed his version of Americana along with an Adidas collaboration and the whole thing was fabulous and so inspiring.

The first half of the collection was a vision of American style inspired by his Mexican-American heritage, with a focus on workwear. Trucker hats, oversized chinos, bandannas and keys hanging from belt loops all made appearances. The second half of the collection was a collaboration with Adidas, ready-to-wear and sneakers, inspired by Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I was actually surprised at how much I liked it. Very much looking forward to its drop next year.

Where I Shopped

I always shop when I am in NYC but this time I SHOOOOPPPPED. My poor credit card is begging to go to rehab. Specifically, I feel like I hit the vintage shopping jackpot and I wanted to share it.

I have very particular criteria when I vintage shop. I get very easily overwhelmed by large shops with 87 racks of unorganized clothing. Instead, I prefer places that are heavily curated with a strong POV.

Here are 3 stores I found to be absolutely exceptional + what I picked up at each place:
